Aiming to promote Filipino indie filmmaking by recognizing talented young filmmakers, the University of the Philippines Cebu Mass Communication Program, in line with their MasComm Days on February 10-22, 2014, happily presents UPelikula 2014.
UPelikula 2014, hoping to make a stepping stone to lead Filipino art to the international audience, decided to raise the bar by opening the contest to all students from different schools and amateur filmmakers in Cebu.
There will be 3 categories: Short Experimental Creatives (SECS), Short Film Entries and Documentaries. Each categories has Student Division and Amateur Division entries that will spark the interest of aspiring young Filipino filmmakers to make their own.
UPelikula 2014 partnered with MAVSHACK and GPN.PH, two international online viewing companies. Tagged as one of the best choices for viewing original Pinoy Blockbuster movies from Viva Entertainment and Star Cinema, as well as concerts and music from Viva Music. On top of that, MavShack.com also offers Punjabi content, a term referring to Indian movies and music videos.
Awards night for the UPelikula 2014 will be on Saturday, February 22, 2014 , at the Marcelo Fernan Press Center in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City, from 6 PM to 9 PM.
