You might heard of Sugbo Mercado – that weekend night market that springs out every Thursdays to Saturdays at Garden Bloc, IT Park, Cebu City (now they have a new branch in Cebu Business Park).

The location is very near the office, so my teammates and officemates usually end up deciding to hit this place every weekend to help ourselves whenever we are starving, especially to relieve all that stress from all the work that we had. With just a few steps from our building (actually, it is located across our building), Sugbo Mercado is indeed the easy vote for every dinner options.

While I enjoy most of the time whenever I visit this night market, I just can’t help but experience these struggles when venturing the place. Here are some of my personal thoughts:

Denim is back, and I love it!

Standard

At first, I was so scared to wear denim jackets, because I might look like a goon in the Pinoy action films. But with extensive photo streaming about denim jackets today, it made me decide that I want to wear one.

So, I looked around the entire Carbon public market, hoping that I can find even just a single denim jacket that I will surely like it. But I fret because I didn’t find a single denim jacket for men.

Until one day, when I was on my way to Colon from work because I want to had my hair cut on a cheap hair salon, I noticed that the Colon Street was on Colon Night Market mode. So I stayed for a while and looked around for some denim jacket, but I found none again. Then I suddenly bumped into this ukay-ukay store just few steps from the night market. Since it was air-conditioned and safe from the robbers lurking around the night market, I chose to go inside and crossed my fingers as I looked around for a denim jacket.

My denim jackets!

My denim jackets! Levi’s (left) and United Colors of Benetton (right)

To my surprise, I saw 2 denim jackets! They were Levi’s and United Color of Benetton brands and they were just hanging together with other jackets on an area marked with their price which is Php 220. So I grabbed the 2 denim jackets and went to the fitting room to check if they fit my size. 1 was a little bit small, but bearable and the other one was just right. So I went to the lady caretaker and asked if they can make it Php 200 each. I was so happy she said yes to my deal. So i bought it, went to a nearby hair salon to had my hair cut, and went home after.

I was really excited to put it on, so during the opening of the Choobi Choobi native restaurant last July 6, 2013, I tried the one in the right as my outfit for the said event.

The other one, well, was the guinea pig for my little fashion experiment. I had it dip dyed.

Since the day I bought these denim jackets from the ukay-ukay, I am not afraid to wear them anymore. Some people say that it is really old-fashioned, but hey, haven’t you noticed that some of the fashions today were the fashions back then? And that includes the denim jacket. Denim jacket is indeed back, and denim jacket is one of my favorite.

Shopping at Lazada using an iPhone

Standard

Behold my new obsession, FASHION!

And because of my new found love, I am so curious to shop online at Lazada.com.ph! Since shopping sites are blocked in the office, I decided to shop via iPhone just to feed my curiousity.

Of course, I go straight to the “Fashion and Accessories” category. And there I found these two prospect babies.

So after some further debate-to-myself moment, I decided to buy it right away.

And I was directed to this page. Since I am new to Lazada, so I registered, but if you guys already have an account, don’t bother to register anymore. Instead, login right away.

Provide the necessary information, more importantly the Customer Information and the Payment Method. I chose to pay in Dragon Pay via BPI on-the-counter. I had difficulties in paying because it was kind of complicated, but managed to pay it during my lunch break.

And I just made a transaction with Lazada. Few days after my payout, a representative of Lazada called me to double check on the address that I gave to them. I wasn’t shock because it has been our problem since then. Everytime there’s a delivery to be sent to us, we are sometimes being called to confirm out home address. Then I realized our home address problem is already a disease when the courier company 2GO called me for my home address. Realizing that they will surely have a difficult time to look for our place, I told them to just deliver it to the office. And luckily I received my package.

With these in mind, here are some tips while shopping online.

1.) Check the address you give. Just like my experience, you may encounter this once you give a vague information. So be sure the address is complete. In case it is not complete, give an alternative address i.e. Office, friend’s address, etc.

2.) Pay at your own comfort. The reason why I chose to pay via BPI On-the-counter is because my debit card is having problems. If my debit card is working properly, then I would have paid it using my card instead of going to the bank and hand over some cash.

3.) Decide with all your might. When buying online, your decision must be 100%, since you cannot see the item personally. Carefully read the information about the item posted in the site, and always have a back-up contact from the seller in case the item is defective.

And lastly, thank you so much to Lazada.com.ph for my new belt and knitted hat! I’ll be shopping for more soon and just feed my hunger for fashion. 🙂
